Eremos er’-ay-mos (ἔρημος) is an ancient Greek word that means solitary, deserted, lonely, or desolate, and is most often translated as wilderness or desert.
In the New Testament, eremos describes the remote places where figures like Jesus and John the Baptist went to pray, fast, or seek solitude away from crowds. In short, it’s where they went to find themselves.
Endurance athletes have support teams, friends, families, etc. But come race day, they are on their own. Races, especially long ones, take us through ups and downs that help us find out who we are. Who we really are! How much gas is in the tank, how much grit, how much dig.
That’s were our name comes from. Intentionally going to the wilderness to Find Yourself.
